Certainly, my iPod had no updates for many years and as far as I'm aware the difference between the software versions 2.0.1 and later is due to different hardware within the device. However, regardless of whether yours has 2.0.4 or 2.0.5 as far as I know, there is no upgrade to the software available (but see the next paragraph*). I believe that 2.0.1 was the last available software for the 120GB iPod Classic. The Wikipedia article for the Classic mentions only 2.0.5.
To my knowledge, the last iPod Classic model (6th generation, 2nd revision, also knows as 7th generation) was originally shipped with 2.0.2, and there was an update to 2.0.3. The Classic's software is known as 1.1.2 PC (well, mine is)
